Fall is in the air at PlantEscape Gardens! The days are getting shorter, the temperatures begrudgingly abating, and the elm tree is shedding its golden leaves for Autumn. Don’t let the spring hype fool you, now is the best time for planting! Spring plantings can be hard on plants especially with our long brutal summers. September brings the milder temperatures which allow plant root systems to become well established before the winter and burst forth ready for the spring when warm weather comes again.

Accordingly we have some new arrivals, organic vegetables for the cooler temperatures! Broccoli,Beets, and an assortment of Lettucein 4″ squares, as well as over 40 different vegetable seed packets (most organic!), including Kale, Bok Choi, and Carrots.

Don’t forget Fall flowersChrysanthemums, Nasturtiums, and Marigolds are prized for their pest deterring abilities and make wonderfuladditions to salads, or holiday cakes. YUM!

Small space? No problem! Micro Greens, Wheatgrass, and Cilantro all grow well inside! Now is the perfect time to start planting your winter garden!

Even though the sun is starting to wane we have plenty of cold hardy succulents to grace your xeriscape and the shade loving, Foxtail Ferns, Caste Iron Plants, Green Shell Ginger, andMing Ferns will keep your landscape green throughout the winter!

Still worried about your plant friends not weathering the cold well? Don’t fret, we have plenty of mulch available to keep those roots nice and warm as the temperatures drop. Now is the time of year to be fertilizing as we reach that sweet spot of temperatures between 70F and 90F. Our homemade organic Compost Tea is a liquid fertilizer in an aerated solution that is teeming with billions of beneficial microorganisms used to restore a much needed diversity and population of beneficial bacteria, fungi, and protozoa back into the soil food web.
We also carry Liquid Fish and Liquid Seaweedfertilizer concentrates brimming with naturally occurring amino acids, as well as a huge complex of chelated minor elements. Don’t forget about that lawn, it could do with some love after the scorching summer sun! Our organic granulated fertilizer is the best way to keep that baby nice and healthy.

Come on by and we can help you develop a plan of action for your garden this year!

Thank you for your continued support and we’ll see you soon!
